Artist Date Reflection 💜✨
A solo, intentional outing or activity designed to nurture your creativity 💜✨
Hello my friends,
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far. As most of you know I have started a 12-week creative journey through The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron ,a classic and powerful guide that has helped many people reconnect with their creativity.
One of the exercises we had to do the past week was to go on a solo date ,which is a weekly solo expedition that nurtures your creativity , it sounds pretty simple but it is actually one of the harder things to accomplish during this process and I think that’s because of the solo aspect it is so easy to break plans with ourselves harder to break plans with loved ones or friends but when it comes to ourselves it tends to get like moved around the calendar so often .
This past week I took myself on an Artist Date, to the beach .I packed my painting gear, found a quiet spot by the water, and allowed myself to simply create. No expectations, no pressure… just me, the sound of the waves, and a blank canvas.🎨🖌️🧑🎨🖼️
But I’ll be honest, this wasn’t easy for me.
I don’t usually go out on my own. I much prefer sharing these moments with my husband, walking side by side, experiencing life together. That’s where I feel most comfortable. So this felt different.A little unfamiliar, even a little uncomfortable at first.
Sitting there alone, with people around me, that I didn’t know,I had to gently quiet that inner voice ,the one that wonders what others might think. And instead, I chose to focus on why I was there.
To nurture creativity.
To be present.
To reconnect with myself.
And somewhere between each brushstroke and the rhythm of the ocean, something shifted.
What started as discomfort slowly turned into calm, and then into a quiet sense of freedom. This is what I’m learning through this journey, that growth doesn’t always come in big, bold moments.
Sometimes it comes in small, brave choices.
Like taking yourself somewhere you wouldn’t normally go.
When was the last time you did something on your own that gently stretched you?
What would your Artist Date look like?
Sending you all a gentle reminder you are allowed to take space in your own life as well.
Much love
Irene 💜

Lovely painting Irene. So glad to hear you made time for yourself to create. You are not an amateur. I don't believe any artist is an amateur. You are you and what you create comes from you. So in my humble opinion when you say amateur you are discounting your creativity. Now believe me, I say these words as an affirmation to myself because I often wonder what creativity lies within me. And we tend to criticize whatever it is we produce. So I want you to grow with me and embrace what you have created in a way that honors our very own Creator. And I commit to doing the same.😘
Beautiful paintings 🖼️
